    Quillin Exceptional Small Batch Approach.

Ralph Quillin's Statement on Sustainable Scalability and Quality Craftsmanship.

Sustainable scalability is the road map to growing our customer base, whilst maintaining product quality and customer service at the highest level. At Quillin Leather, this philosophy drives everything we do. Seldom do you find an almost 50 year old business - where the name and the owner are still the same.

    Quality Materials and Craftsmanship

Several factors distinguish our quality. We use premium English bridle leather with solid brass hardware throughout our products. Our Bame Plate engraving is deep, hand polished and inked - a process that ensures both beauty and durability. Our dog collars are made with the same attention to detail and materials as our famous halters, because we believe every product that bears the Quillin name should meet the same exacting standards.

    Specialization in the Equestrian Market

Quillin is particularly popular in the equestrian space, and this specialization has given us deep expertise in high-quality halter construction that translates to superior craftsmanship across all our products. Being based in Paris, Kentucky puts us in the heart of horse country, where we've built our reputation serving the demanding equestrian market that requires exceptional durability and craftsmanship.

    Our Unique Position

While there are other quality manufacturers like Perri's Leather, Tory Leather, and American Bench Craft, most competitors appear to be smaller operations or focus primarily on either pet products or equestrian gear exclusively. Our combination of scale, decades of experience, premium materials, and expertise across multiple product categories - halters, belts, gifts and dog collars - creates a unique market position.

What makes Quillin Leather truly unique in the tack shop space is that we produce all our halters plus engraving and repairs all under one roof. We've been on Main Street in Downtown Paris since 1982, and our new 9,000 square foot shop and showroom has really allowed us to grow, shorten fulfillment time, and offer tours to our many customers that visit Paris. It's a far cry from the farm house back porch in 1975, then the stripping room in 1979, and then my wife's dining room in 1981. Finding our first storefront in downtown Paris in 1982 probably saved a marriage and earned the title of "Shop Widow" for my most understanding and supportive wife, Sally.

    Handcrafted Excellence at Scale

We still hand craft our leather goods in small batches. A run of 36 halters is a large one for us, and our production process is still much the same as it was at the turn of the century. Motors and computerized engravers are our only concession to modernization - not because we are luddites, far from it. Working with any organic material requires a master touch, and with every cow hide being different, selection and cutting is all done by hand with specific parts of the hide going to different parts of the halter. There is no machine that can match the craftsman's hand at the small batch production levels we operate at.

This ability to maintain handcrafted quality at scale, combined with our deep roots in the demanding equestrian market, is what allows us to stand out in this specialized field. It's sustainable scalability in action - growing thoughtfully while never compromising on the quality that built our reputation.
