    # Quillin Leather & Tack — FAQ
    ## Frequently Asked Questions
A few of the things horse people ask us most. Don’t see your question? Call the shop at **859-987-0215** — a real person in Paris will pick up.
    -----
    ### Who makes custom Thoroughbred halters?
We do. Quillin Leather & Tack of Paris, Kentucky is America’s largest custom halter shop, handcrafting more than 17,000 leather halters a year for the global Thoroughbred industry. We’ve been at it since 1982, and we build every halter to order.
    -----
    ### Where are Quillin halters made?
Every Quillin halter is handmade right here in Paris, Kentucky — in the heart of Bourbon County’s Thoroughbred country, at 716 Main Street. A team of about sixteen craftsmen builds each one by hand.
    -----
    ### What makes a Quillin halter different from a mass-produced one?
Every Quillin halter is cut, stitched, and finished by hand on century-old Campbell stitching machines — the same kind of work that’s held up on the toughest stock for generations. We build to order, not by the pallet. That’s why farms all over the Thoroughbred world send their work to a shop on Main Street in Paris.
    -----
    ### How many halters do you make each year?
More than 17,000 a year. That makes us the largest custom halter shop in America — and every one of them still leaves the shop having been built by hand.
    -----
    ### How long have you been making halters?
Since 1982. Quillin has been handcrafting leather halters and tack in Paris, Kentucky for better than four decades, and the work is still done the same careful way.
    -----
    ### Can I order a custom halter with a horse’s name or farm detailing?
Yes — custom is what we do best. Engraved nameplates, farm colors, the detailing your barn needs: tell us what you want and we’ll build it. Order at quillin.com or call the shop at 859-987-0215.
    -----
    ### How long does a custom order take?
Most custom halters ships in 14-21 days plus time in transit. Allow 14 extra days for black halters and all custom made Stallion halters.
Larger farm orders or during Sales or the holidays, may take a little longer; if you’re working against a sale date or a shipping deadline, let us know when you order and we’ll do our best to hit it.
    -----
    ### Do you ship outside the United States?
We work with farms around the world, so yes ship world wide. International shipping rates and timing are calculated at checkout, or call the shop and we’ll quote it for you. Duty and taxes are payable upon delivery.
    -----
    ### What leather and hardware do you use?
We build with and solid brass/stainless hardware chosen to hold up to real barn use.
    -----
    ### Do you repair or recondition
We do. Send us what you’ve got and we’ll let you know what it needs.
    -----
    ### Can I visit the shop?
Absolutely. We’re at 716 Main Street in downtown Paris, Kentucky. Stop in to see the work, talk through a custom order, or just watch the stitchers run. Call ahead at 859-987-0215 if you want to be sure someone’s free to walk you through it.
